Aluminum-Specific Geometry
Series 5600A geometry is developed to support finish quality and chip evacuation in compatible aluminum sheet, block, and extrusion grades.

A solid-carbide, single-edge upcut O-flute spiral developed for CNC machining of compatible aluminum sheet, block, and extrusion grades. SKU 5640A combines a 3/8-inch cutting diameter, 7/8-inch cutting length, 3/8-inch shank, 3-inch overall length, and aluminum-specific Series 5600A geometry.
Series 5600A uses aluminum-specific single-edge O-flute geometry intended to support finish quality and chip evacuation when machining compatible sheet, block, and extrusion grades of aluminum.
Designed for compatible CNC routers and machining systems using a precision 3/8-inch collet or holder. Confirm aluminum grade, workholding, tool projection, chip evacuation, lubrication or cooling strategy, and programmed cutting parameters before production.
The Vortex Tool 5640A is the 3/8-inch model in the Series 5600A single-edge O-flute upcut family for aluminum. Vortex specifies this series for machining compatible sheet, block, and extrusion grades of aluminum in CNC applications.
Its aluminum-specific O-flute geometry is designed to support finish quality and chip evacuation. The upcut spiral directs chips upward through the routed path, making secure workholding and effective extraction important throughout profiling, pocketing, and slotting operations.
The verified configuration uses a 3/8-inch cutting-edge diameter, 7/8-inch cutting-edge length, 3/8-inch shank, and 3-inch overall length. Correct collet condition, tool projection, entry strategy, spindle speed, feed, chip evacuation, and the selected lubrication or cooling method remain essential for controlled aluminum machining.
Technical Specifications
Series 5600A geometry is developed to support finish quality and chip evacuation in compatible aluminum sheet, block, and extrusion grades.
The verified single cutting edge uses O-flute geometry with upward chip removal for dedicated CNC aluminum-routing applications.
The 3/8-inch cutting diameter and shank are paired with a verified 7/8-inch cutting length and 3-inch overall length.
Use a clean, undamaged precision 3/8-inch collet or compatible holder with adequate shank engagement and minimum practical projection. Confirm that the workpiece is a compatible aluminum grade and verify clearance for the 7/8-inch cutting length and 3-inch overall length. Upcut geometry can lift inadequately secured material, so use rigid workholding and confirm the programmed entry, spindle speed, feed, chip evacuation, and lubrication or cooling strategy for the machine and alloy. Inspect the cutting edge and shank before use and remove damaged tooling from service.
Vortex Tool 5640A combines solid-carbide construction, a single-edge upcut O-flute, right-hand rotation, and Series 5600A aluminum geometry in a 3/8-inch cutting configuration.
Correct alloy identification, collet fit, tool projection, workholding, cutting parameters, chip evacuation, and lubrication or cooling strategy are essential for controlled routing of compatible aluminum sheet, block, and extrusions.
