Before the first machine
Built first in metal, mechanics and family continuity.
Official histories place SCM's deeper roots in the collaboration of Nicola Gemmani and Lanfranco Aureli,
two men grounded in foundry and mechanical work. Their industrial partnership formed the base from which
engineer Giuseppe Gemmani designed the first SCM woodworking machine in 1952.
That distinction matters. SCM did not arrive as a marketing idea. It emerged from the ability to cast,
machine, assemble and refine industrial equipment—then carried that discipline forward through successive
Aureli and Gemmani generations.
One partnership. Several generations. A widening industrial system.
Nicola Gemmani and Lanfranco Aureli established the founding industrial relationship. Giuseppe
Gemmani translated that knowledge into the first woodworking machine. Adriano and Alfredo Aureli
later helped carry the business through international expansion and group-scale growth.
