Doucet MR

DOUCET MACHINERIES

MR Return Conveyor for Moulders

Doucet MR is a moulder-specific return conveyor family for fast end-to-end facing applications. MR-8, MR-12 and MR-16 use variable-speed exit rollers, an adjustable ledge aligned with the moulder fence, gravity transfer onto lateral belts and a dedicated return conveyor to support one-operator operation.

Production problem

Fast moulder feed creates a continuous outfeed stream that otherwise requires repeated material handling at the discharge end.

Machine mechanism

Boards leave variable-speed exit rollers, drop by gravity to transfer belts below the ledge, then side-shift to the return rollers.

Model logic

MR-8, MR-12 and MR-16 change receiving-module length and maximum supported board length while sharing the 48-inch receiving width and 12-inch return width.

Start with the production problem

Keep pace with long-stock moulder output without building a second manual handling station at outfeed.

MR is built for fast end-to-end facing on moulders, returning long stock to the loading side so one operator can manage the cell.

Exit rolls

Guide the board out

A pair of rollers driven by a variable-speed motor guides stock from the moulder toward the receiving module.

Alignment

Support against the process line

An adjustable ledge continues the moulder-fence line as stock enters the receiving table.

Gravity transfer

Drop below the ledge

Once clear of the exit rollers, the stock is released by gravity onto the transfer belts below the ledge.

Return

Side-shift and return

Transfer belts move the board laterally to the return rollers for delivery back toward the operator.

Application fit

Best fit: fast moulder cells processing long mouldings or boards end to end.

MR supports moulder applications up to 80 ft/min, three board-length classes, one-operator return and optional accumulation.

Strong fit

Moulders

Dedicated host-machine scope for moulder applications.

Strong fit

End-to-end facing

Built around fast end-to-end facing workflows on moulders.

Strong fit

Long stock

MR-8/-12/-16 support maximum board lengths of 96, 144 and 192 inches respectively.

Workflow

One-operator cell

The return path brings stock back to support one-operator moulder operation.

Option fit

Accumulation needs

The accumulation table can be configured on the left side of the return or at its end.

Shared geometry

48" receive / 12" return

All three MR models share a 48-inch receiving width and 12-inch return-roller width.

Select the MR model from board length backwards

MR-8, MR-12 and MR-16 are tied to receiving-module and board-length limits.

Model selection is based on the actual receiving-module length, maximum board length, moulder interface and accumulation requirements.

Define the moulder

Manufacturer/model, fence line, feed height, total length and actual operating feed rate.

Define the stock

Minimum/maximum board length, width, thickness, weight and profile family.

Match board length

96, 144 or 192 inches maximum according to MR-8, MR-12 or MR-16.

Close the return length

Return-roller length is proportionate to the length of the paired moulder.

Add accumulation / mobility

Choose accumulation-table location and caster/quick-release configuration if required.

Machine architecture / work cycle

Exit rollers → adjustable ledge → gravity drop → lateral belt transfer → return rollers.

Boards leave the exit rolls, remain aligned on the adjustable ledge, drop by gravity to the transfer belts and move laterally to the return rollers.

Guide

1 — Exit rolls

A pair of variable-speed motor-driven rollers guides boards from the moulder.

Support

2 — Adjustable ledge

The ledge supports material in continuation of the moulder fence.

Transfer start

3 — Gravity drop

Stock clears the feed rollers and drops by gravity below the ledge.

Return

4 — Belt side-shift / return

Transfer belts move stock to the 12-inch-wide return rollers.

Exit-roll detail

Variable-speed exit rollers guide the board toward the receiving module.

A pair of variable-speed motor-driven exit rollers guides stock from the moulder into the receiving module.

Exit-roll architecture

Two exit rolls with variable-speed drive.

The exit rolls guide stock into the receiving section before the ledge and gravity-transfer sequence.

The 80 ft/min value is the application feed-rate ceiling; it is not a separately specified exit-roll or return-conveyor speed.

Technical framework

Shared geometry and model-specific receiving lengths stay separate.

Choose the model from the actual long-stock mix and moulder layout, not only the occasional longest board.

Adjustable ledge

Continue the moulder fence line into the receiving table.

Incoming boards are supported by an adjustable ledge positioned in continuation of the moulder fence.

Moulder interface

The ledge supports board alignment before gravity transfer.

Ledge position is established around the paired moulder and the installed material-flow path.

Final ledge position is part of the moulder-interface setup for the supplied configuration.

Accumulation table

Configure accumulation beside the return conveyor or at its end.

The accumulation table can be located on the left side of the return conveyor or at its end.

Accumulation option

Choose the location around operator flow and downstream handling.

Left-side and end-of-return locations are both supported MR configurations.

Select the accumulation location together with the return layout and operator side.

Operating framework

Match application feed, exit-roll guidance and return geometry.

MR keeps the application feed rate distinct from the variable-speed exit-roll function and model-specific conveyor geometry.

Application feed

Up to 80 ft/min

Suitable application feed rate for MR.

Exit guidance

Variable-speed exit rolls

A motor-driven pair of exit rollers guides stock into the receiving module.

Return geometry

Length follows the moulder

Return-roller length is proportionate to the paired moulder length.

Options / custom configuration

Configure accumulation and mobility around the cell.

Available MR configurations include two accumulation-table locations plus caster and quick-release return options.

Configuration

Accumulation table — left

Accumulation table can be located on the left side of the return conveyor.

Configuration

Accumulation table — end

Accumulation table can alternatively be located at the end of the return conveyor.

Mobility

Quick-release return on casters

Quick-release return-section caster configuration is available.

Mobility

Main module on casters

Caster mounting is available for the main module.

Ownership / changeover

Manage the MR around moulder length, fence alignment and stock family.

Keep the model, fence/ledge interface, transfer surfaces and mobility configuration documented with the installed cell.

Configuration

Model record

Keep MR-8/-12/-16 identity tied to the actual receiving module and board-length range.

Interface

Fence / ledge relationship

Document the installed moulder interface and approved ledge position.

Ownership

Transfer / return surfaces

Exit rollers, transfer belts and return rollers are the primary material-flow elements.

Safety

Qualified service

Drive, pneumatic and electrical service follows installed-machine procedures and qualified workplace practices.

Production-cell integration

The moulder defines the return length and alignment relationship.

Return-roller length is proportionate to the paired moulder, so final cell geometry is defined around the host machine.

Moulder outfeed

Stock exits through the variable-speed guide rollers.

Ledge support

The board enters the receiving table on the adjustable fence-line continuation.

Gravity release

Stock drops below the ledge after clearing the exit rolls.

Lateral transfer

Belts shift the board toward the 12-inch return rollers.

Return / accumulate

Stock returns to the operator or configured accumulation location.

Business-case framework

Measure moulder outfeed handling instead of applying a generic one-operator ROI.

Build the project case from actual shift pattern, board mix, operator travel and moulder waiting time.

Existing state

Existing outfeed labor

Measure time spent receiving, carrying and staging long stock.

Flow

Moulder waiting

Record idle time caused by outfeed congestion or operator travel.

Production basis

Board-length mix

Separate 8-, 12- and 16-foot-class stock and shorter production.

Business case

Configured MR case

Use the selected model, real feed rate and accumulation method to model the project.

Application data package

Send the moulder and real long-stock mix before selecting MR-8, MR-12 or MR-16.
