Double-Edge O-Flute Geometry
Two polished O-flute cutting edges provide the verified Series 5800 geometry for harder-plastic CNC routing.

A solid-carbide, double-edge O-flute router bit developed for CNC cutting in harder plastics such as acrylic and phenolics. SKU 5843 combines a 3/8-inch cutting diameter, 1-1/4-inch cutting length, 3/8-inch shank, 3-inch overall length, upcut chip direction, and polished flutes.
Series 5800 uses polished double-edge O-flute geometry with upward chip removal for smooth CNC routing and effective chip evacuation in compatible harder plastics.
Designed for compatible CNC routers and routing equipment using a precision 3/8-inch collet or holder. Confirm the plastic grade, workholding, chip extraction, programmed entry, and machine parameters before production.
The Vortex Tool 5843 is the extended-cut 3/8-inch model in the Series 5800 double-edge O-flute upcut family. It is developed for cutting harder plastics, including acrylic and phenolics, at productive CNC feed rates while maintaining a smooth routed finish.
Its polished O-flutes are designed to reduce friction at the cutting edge, help the tool run cooler, and add lubricity without a coating. The upcut spiral directs chips upward, supporting chip removal in properly programmed profiling, pocketing, and slotting operations.
The verified configuration uses a 3/8-inch cutting-edge diameter, 1-1/4-inch cutting-edge length, 3/8-inch shank, and 3-inch overall length. Correct collet condition, tool projection, workholding, entry strategy, feed, spindle speed, chip evacuation, and material verification remain essential to cut quality and machine operation.
Technical Specifications
Two polished O-flute cutting edges provide the verified Series 5800 geometry for harder-plastic CNC routing.
The upcut spiral directs chips upward to support evacuation in compatible profiling, pocketing, and slotting toolpaths.
The 3/8-inch cutting diameter is paired with a 1-1/4-inch cutting length, 3/8-inch shank, and compact 3-inch OAL.
Use a clean, undamaged precision 3/8-inch collet or compatible holder with adequate shank engagement and minimum practical projection. Confirm that the plastic grade is suitable for the Series 5800 harder-plastic geometry, and verify machine clearance for the 1-1/4-inch cutting length and 3-inch overall length. Upcut geometry can lift inadequately secured parts, so confirm workholding, sheet support, entry strategy, feed rate, spindle speed, chip extraction, and toolpath direction before production. Remove the tool from service if its cutting edges or shank are damaged.
Vortex Tool 5843 combines solid-carbide construction, double-edge O-flute geometry, upcut chip direction, and polished uncoated flutes in a 3/8-inch cutting configuration.
Correct material selection, collet fit, tool projection, workholding, programmed entry, cutting parameters, and chip evacuation are essential for smooth CNC routing in compatible acrylic, phenolic, and harder-plastic applications.
