Vortex Tool Series 4000 Double-Edge “Z” Flute Straight Router Bit – 3/8 in Diameter x 1 in Cutting Length
Double-Edge Z-Flute
Straight Router Bit
A Vortex Tool Series 4000 solid-carbide double-edge “Z” flute straight router bit with a 3/8-inch cutting diameter, 1-inch cutting-edge length, 3/8-inch shank, and 3-inch overall length. Traditional straight-flute geometry provides a rigid general-purpose cutting format without the directional axial thrust associated with upcut or downcut spirals.
Main Product Description
The Vortex Tool 4037 is a Series 4000 double-edge “Z” flute straight router bit built for general-purpose routing. Vortex combines traditional straight-flute geometry with the rigidity of solid-carbide construction to provide a stable cutting format for compatible wood and plastic routing applications.
Unlike upcut and downcut spiral geometries, the straight-flute design does not impose the same directional axial thrust along the tool axis. This makes the 4037 useful when upward lifting or downward pressing force from spiral geometry is undesirable for the material, workholding method, or cutting operation.
The verified 4037 configuration uses a 3/8-inch cutting-edge diameter, 1-inch cutting-edge length, 3/8-inch shank, 3-inch overall length, two straight cutting edges, solid-carbide construction, and right-hand rotation. Correct collet condition, spindle runout, projection, feed, RPM, workholding, and chip evacuation remain essential to cut quality and tool life.

Product Highlights
Solid-Carbide Rigidity
Vortex pairs solid-carbide construction with straight-flute geometry to provide a rigid general-purpose routing tool.
Neutral Axial Behaviour
Straight cutting edges avoid the directional lifting or pressing thrust associated with upcut and downcut spirals.
Double-Edge Z-Flute Design
Two straight cutting edges provide the verified Series 4000 double-edge “Z” flute configuration in a compact 3/8-inch format.
Compatibility & Installation Notes
Confirm a clean, undamaged 3/8-inch collet or compatible holder, correct right-hand spindle rotation, adequate shank engagement, safe tool projection for the 3-inch overall length, machine RPM limits, feed rate, material, cut depth, workpiece support, workholding, and chip evacuation before use. Straight-flute geometry reduces directional axial thrust but does not replace secure workholding or proper dust and chip extraction.
Rigid Straight-Flute Routing
Vortex Tool 4037 combines Series 4000 double-edge “Z” flute geometry with a verified 3/8-inch cutting diameter, 1-inch cutting length, 3/8-inch shank, and 3-inch overall length.
Its solid-carbide straight-flute construction provides a general-purpose routing option for operations where the directional axial force of an upcut or downcut spiral is not desired.
