The Vortex Tool 3285 is part of the Series 3200 three-flute compression-spiral range. Its upcut and downcut flute sections compress the material toward the centre of the cut, helping control chipping and fuzzing along both workpiece faces.

Vortex identifies the 0.250-inch upcut configuration as a mortise-style option for mortise cuts or thin materials. The three-flute design provides additional cutting-edge engagement to support faster feed capability while maintaining excellent finishes on both sides of compatible material.

The verified 3285 configuration uses a 3/8-inch cutting-edge diameter, 7/8-inch cutting-edge length, 3/8-inch shank, 3-inch overall length, 0.250-inch upcut section, three flutes, mortise compression geometry, and right-hand rotation.
