Main Product Description

The Vortex Tool 3130 is part of the Series 3100 “The Viper” two-flute compression-spiral range. Compression geometry combines upcut and downcut flute sections so the material is directed toward the centre of the panel, helping reduce chipping or fuzzing at both the top and bottom edges of a through cut.

Vortex identifies the Series 3100 for double-sided laminated materials including melamine, vinyl-laminated panels, high-pressure laminate, and painted board. The series is not recommended for material thinner than 5/8 inch; the 0.500-inch upcut section must be considered when matching the bit to panel thickness and programmed cut depth.

The verified 3130 configuration uses a 3/8-inch cutting-edge diameter, 1-1/8-inch cutting-edge length, 3/8-inch shank, 3-inch overall length, and two-flute right-hand compression geometry. Correct collet condition, spindle runout, tool projection, feed rate, RPM, workholding, and chip evacuation remain essential to finish quality and tool life.

Natural Wood with Edge Fuzzing Concerns

Product Highlights

01

Viper Compression Geometry

Combined upcut and downcut flute sections compress the cut toward the panel centre to support clean edges on both faces.

02

Double-Sided Panel Focus

Series 3100 is intended for compatible laminated panel products where top- and bottom-edge quality are both important.

03

Verified 3/8-Inch Format

The 3/8-inch cutting diameter and shank are paired with a 1-1/8-inch cutting length, 0.500-inch upcut, and 3-inch overall length.

Compatibility & Installation Notes

Confirm a clean, undamaged 3/8-inch collet or compatible holder, correct right-hand spindle rotation, adequate shank engagement, safe tool projection, machine RPM limits, feed rate, cut depth, panel support, workholding, and chip evacuation before use. Match the programmed cut depth and material thickness to the 0.500-inch upcut section so the compression transition supports the intended top- and bottom-edge finish. Vortex does not recommend this Series 3100 geometry for material thinner than 5/8 inch.

Clean Edges on Both Faces

Vortex Tool 3130 combines Series 3100 “The Viper” two-flute compression geometry with a verified 3/8-inch cutting diameter, 1-1/8-inch cutting length, 3/8-inch shank, 0.500-inch upcut, and 3-inch overall length for compatible double-sided panel routing.

Correct spindle condition, collet fit, panel thickness, tool projection, feed, RPM, cut depth, chip evacuation, and workholding are essential to achieving the intended edge quality and service life.
