Main Product Description

The Vortex Tool 3135L is the left-hand-rotation version of the Series 3100 “The Viper” two-flute compression spiral. Its upcut and downcut flute sections compress the cut toward the centre of the panel, helping reduce chipping or fuzzing along both the top and bottom edges.

Vortex identifies Series 3100 compression spirals for double-sided laminates including melamine, vinyl, high-pressure laminates, and painted board. The manufacturer also notes that the series can be used in natural wood applications where edge fuzzing is a concern, while advising against use in material thinner than 5/8 inch.

The verified 3135L configuration uses a 1/2-inch cutting-edge diameter, 1-inch cutting-edge length, 1/2-inch shank, 3-inch overall length, 0.550-inch upcut section, two flutes, and left-hand rotation. Correct machine direction, collet condition, spindle runout, projection, feed, RPM, workholding, and chip evacuation are essential to finish quality and tool life.

Product Highlights

01

Verified Left-Hand Rotation

SKU 3135L is the dedicated left-hand, counterclockwise version and must be matched to a machine configured for that cutting direction.

02

Two-Sided Edge Control

Compression geometry directs the cut toward the panel centre to help reduce chipping and fuzzing on both faces of compatible materials.

03

Viper Flute Geometry

Series 3100 uses Vortex Viper flute geometry for productive compression routing and extended sharpening life throughout the tool’s useful service.

Compatibility & Installation Notes

Use only on a compatible machine configured for left-hand, counterclockwise cutting rotation. Confirm a clean, undamaged 1/2-inch collet or holder, adequate shank engagement, safe projection, spindle condition, machine RPM limits, feed rate, workholding, and chip evacuation. Position the 0.550-inch upcut section and compression transition correctly within the workpiece, and do not use this Series 3100 configuration in material thinner than 5/8 inch.

Left-Hand Compression Control

Vortex Tool 3135L combines Series 3100 Viper two-flute compression geometry with a verified 1/2-inch cutting diameter, 1-inch cutting length, 0.550-inch upcut, 1/2-inch shank, 3-inch overall length, and left-hand rotation.

The solid-carbide design is intended for compatible double-sided laminate and wood-routing applications where clean top and bottom edges are required from a counterclockwise cutting system.
