Main Product Description

The Vortex Tool 1365L is the dedicated left-hand-rotation counterpart to SKU 1365 in the Series 1300 two-flute downcut finishing spiral range. Vortex positions this geometry for operations where the down-shearing effect is preferred and top-edge finish is more important than the bottom edge of the cut.

The downcut spiral directs chip flow downward while helping hold parts against a table or pod. In nested cutting, the routed path can remain packed with chips, which may help preserve vacuum around the workpiece when the toolpath, dust collection, and machine setup are correctly matched.

The verified 1365L configuration uses a 1/2-inch cutting-edge diameter, 2-1/8-inch cutting-edge length, 1/2-inch shank, 4-inch overall length, and left-hand rotation. Correct collet condition, spindle runout, tool projection, ramped entry, feed rate, RPM, cut depth, chip evacuation, and workholding remain essential to finish quality and tool life.

Product Highlights

01

Clean Top-Edge Finish

The down-shearing flute direction is designed to support a clean top edge in compatible dados, grooves, profiles, and through-routing operations.

02

Downward Chip Flow

The downcut geometry directs chips and cutting pressure downward, helping hold compatible parts against the table or pod during routing.

03

Compact Finishing Configuration

The 1/2-inch cutting diameter and extended 2-1/8-inch cutting length are paired with a matching 1/2-inch shank and 4-inch overall length.

Compatibility & Installation Notes

Confirm a clean, undamaged 1/2-inch collet or compatible toolholder, correct left-hand spindle rotation, adequate shank engagement, minimum practical tool projection, machine RPM limits, feed rate, cut depth, chip evacuation, workholding, and material support before use. Do not plunge straight down with downcut tooling; use a suitable ramped or pre-drilled entry strategy because straight plunging can cause overheating, fire, or tool breakage.

Clean Top-Edge Downcut Finishing

Vortex Tool 1365L combines left-hand two-flute downcut finishing geometry with a verified 1/2-inch cutting diameter, 2-1/8-inch cutting length, 1/2-inch shank, and 4-inch overall length for compatible precision CNC routing operations.

Correct collet fit, spindle condition, minimal tool projection, ramped entry, feed, RPM, cut depth, chip management, workholding, and material selection are essential to achieving the intended clean top edge and stable routing performance.
