Vortex Tool Series 5800TSA Double-Edge Upcut O-Flute Aerospace Aluminum Cutter, 3/8 in × 3/8 in
Aerospace Aluminum
Upcut O-Flute
A solid-carbide, double-edge upcut O-flute cutter developed specifically for aerospace-grade aluminum sheet. SKU 5840TSA combines a 3/8-inch cutting diameter, 3/8-inch cutting length, 3/8-inch shank, 2-1/2-inch overall length, and Vortex TSA geometry.
Main Product Description
The Vortex Tool 5840TSA is the 3/8-inch model in the Series 5800TSA double-edge aluminum-cutting family. Vortex developed this series specifically for machining aerospace aluminum sheet after testing material grades supplied in multiple hardness conditions.
Its double-edge upcut O-flute geometry is designed to move chips upward while cutting aerospace-grade aluminum sheet. The specialized TSA geometry provides a dedicated alternative to general-purpose plastic O-flute tooling when the workpiece is aluminum.
The verified configuration uses a 3/8-inch cutting-edge diameter, 3/8-inch cutting-edge length, 3/8-inch shank, and 2-1/2-inch overall length. Correct collet condition, tool projection, workholding, programmed entry, feed, spindle speed, chip evacuation, and the selected lubrication or cooling method remain essential.

Product Highlights
TSA Aerospace Geometry
Vortex developed the specialized TSA cutting geometry through in-house CNC testing with aerospace aluminum sheet supplied in varied grades and hardnesses.
Double-Edge O-Flute Design
Two O-flute cutting edges provide the verified Series 5800TSA configuration for dedicated aerospace aluminum sheet machining.
Compact 3/8-Inch Cut
The 3/8-inch cutting diameter and cutting length are paired with a 3/8-inch shank and compact 2-1/2-inch overall length.
Compatibility & Installation Notes
Use a clean, undamaged precision 3/8-inch collet or compatible holder with adequate shank engagement and minimum practical projection. Confirm that the workpiece is an appropriate aerospace-grade aluminum sheet and verify clearance for the 3/8-inch cutting length and 2-1/2-inch overall length. Use secure workholding and an aluminum-appropriate cutting strategy, including suitable feed, spindle speed, entry method, chip evacuation, and lubrication or cooling where required by the machine and material. Upcut geometry can lift inadequately secured material. Remove the tool from service if its cutting edges or shank are damaged.
Dedicated Aerospace Aluminum Cutting
Vortex Tool 5840TSA combines solid-carbide construction, double-edge upcut O-flute geometry, and specialized TSA design in a compact 3/8-inch cutting configuration.
Correct material identification, collet fit, tool projection, workholding, cutting parameters, chip evacuation, and lubrication or cooling strategy are essential for controlled CNC machining of aerospace-grade aluminum sheet.
